The Festival is organised by families for families so we are 100% committed to making sure you have an amazing time during your visit to Barnes. Here’s a few of our top tips!
HOW CAN I BUY TICKETS?
Book online: www.londonkidslitfest.org
Book online via our website and you’ll receive an e-ticket. You don’t need to print them out, save paper by showing us your phone! Our online ticketing service provider charges a booking fee for all orders.*
Book in person: Festival Box Office
Open during Festival weekend only on Barnes Green, SW13 0LF (next to the OSO Arts Centre)
Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 June 2026 9am – 5pm.
DO I HAVE TO ACCOMPANY MY CHILD TO EVENTS?
We expect all children under the age of 11 to be accompanied by an adult. This means that adults will need to buy tickets too, exactly as if you were going to the cinema. We cannot take responsibility for unsupervised children so please don’t drop them off and leave.
DO I NEED A TICKET TO TAKE MY BABY TO AN EVENT?
If you are attending an event for older children, then babies under the age of twelve months are free. But if you are coming to one of our babies or toddlers events then yes, you will need to buy a ticket as usual because the event has been made for them.
HOW DO I KNOW IF THE EVENT IS SUITABLE FOR MY CHILD?
Our age guidelines are usually based on the reading age of the book, but you know your kids much better than we do, so if you’re happy they’ll enjoy the event, we’re happy!
HOW LONG ARE THE EVENTS?
All our events last one hour unless stated otherwise in the programme and are usually followed by book signing. Doors to our venues open 15 minutes prior to the event starting.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I’M LATE FOR AN EVENT?
We are a relaxed festival so you don’t need to worry about children being, well, children. We’ll be ready to help you enter and leave our events freely.
CAN I TAKE MY BUGGY INTO AN EVENT?
Due to fire safety regulations buggies and pushchairs are not permitted inside our venues so they will need to be left outside.
ACCESS
Everyone is welcome at Barnes! Assistance dogs too! All our venues are wheelchair accessible and if you can let us know you’re coming beforehand, we can arrange priority seating for you. Please email: info@londonkidslitfest.org
I HAVE LOST SOMETHING AT THE FESTIVAL. WHAT SHOULD I SO?
Lost your phone? Lost your kids? Our Festival Box Office & HQ on Barnes Green is a great place to start.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
We have a bit more room to move here in Barnes compared to other areas of London, but parking can still be tricky so we’re going to suggest you leave your car at home and travel by public transport if possible. There is only limited parking in the streets around Barnes Pond and much of it is for residents only.
CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD AND DRINK?
We have lots of tasty food stalls but you are welcome to bring your own food and drink from home and join in the fun beside Barnes Pond for as long as you want. No ticket necessary!
CAN I FILL UP MY WATER BOTTLE?
There’s a free drinking water fountain on Barnes Green outside the OSO Arts Centre so you can bring along your empty water bottle to fill up during the day.
CAN I COME TO THE FESTIVAL FOR FREE?
Yes, absolutely. We’ve got tonnes of 100% FREE fun around Barnes Green all weekend so every family can attend the Festival without spending a pound AND WE LOVE THAT!
BEXIT
Barnes is our home and we really want you to treat it as your own. Please do help us to keep Barnes clean and green by disposing of your rubbish in the bins provided and taking everything home that you brought with you.
PLEASE REMEMBER
All the information in our programme is correct at the time of publication. We’d never cancel an event or switch a venue unless it was absolutely necessary but our authors and artists are real people, just like us, and sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances we do need to cancel or substitute an event. We ask you to understand.
